LANDMARK VICTORIAN

Originally built in 1883, after a fire which cost the life of the family patriarch, the restoration process of the Landmark Victorian was exhaustive but committed to preserving its original resplendence. Leveraging historic photos, Design Draw Build meticulously refurbished the exterior to its original styling, while modernizing the interior to accommodate the aging owners' accessibility needs. The project renovated the three upstairs units, providing additional housing units for the community and a stable income stream for the owners while allowing them to age in place.

Along the front facade, anachronistic aluminum windows were swapped out for period-appropriate wood double-hung insulated glass windows. The project team worked with the owners to install a wheelchair lift and ADA compliant accessibility provisions in the bathroom and kitchen. The primary bathroom was expanded and grab bars were added throughout. The kitchen of the main unit was expanded to focus around ease of movement, and a new doorway was opened up between the kitchen and primary bedroom to allow for a less circuitous movement path.
