THE PARKWAY THEATER – OAKLAND, CA
The Parkway Theater, established in 1925, was a community staple in Oakland, CA providing its diverse community with films and events for almost 100 years until its unfortunate closing in 2009. Its revival is necessary to keep the history of Oakland alive and well for future generations. Recently, DDB was hired to preserve, partially redesign, and revitalize the theater with the possible inclusion of a modern ‘medical’ dispensary and restaurant space to fund the historic preservation of this beloved Oakland landmark.
